About APEX Board Prep

Hello! My name is Michael. I am a current general surgery resident, and the founder of APEX Board Prep. After years of studying the USMLE/COMLEX exams and teaching hundreds of students, I decided to create a high-yield review course for these exams. In particular for USMLE Step 2 CK and COMLEX Level 2 as these are some of the most important exams for the residency match and our careers.

 

I was fortunate enough to score in the 99th+ percentile on USMLE Step 2 CK and COMLEX Level 2. I believe most of what contributed to the success in these exams was a focus on clinical pattern recognition. After working with hundreds of students over the years, I have realized how effective case based learning is when it comes to developing that pattern recognition. This is why I have built this course around clinical case scenarios from which I teach the pattern recognition, test-taking strategy, and other high-yield points.

 

My goal was to create a high-yield resource at a very affordable price. I also completed a master’s degree in Adult Education as well as a Clinical Simulation and Education Fellowship with a focus on medical education, evidence-based novel learning strategies, and simulation. While designing this course, I aimed to use the skills learned from those experiences to help students master the concepts and test-taking strategy to ace the exam.
